Get Involved with FAM

Team Shepherd: Linsey Brewster is the Team Shepherd who coordinates connecting foster and adoption families with volunteers serving on the Words of Encouragement Team. 

Notes of encouragement: Written notes, texts, or emails to let families know they are not alone.

Phone calls: Call on families to see where they might need help and connect their needs with other parts of our team.

Meet for treats and conversation: Sometimes the most pressing need is a listening ear. This might include meeting up for coffee or a snack or delivering them in home since getting out of the house can be challenging. 

Team Shepherd: Lesa Smith is the Team Shepherd who will coordinate the needs and connect FAM families with volunteers serving on the Relief Care Team. 

Gathering & Delivery: Round up or donate items such as baby things, linens, or small household appliances and kitchen items. When items are gathered, we need volunteers to deliver them to the families in need. This team member can choose to gather, deliver, or do both. 

Meal Train: Prepare and deliver meals. This may include collecting restaurant gift cards and/or food delivery gift cards such as Door Dash or Grubhub. Please prayerfully consider committing to deliver one meal a month per the Meal Train sign-up dates. 

Team Shepherd: Edgar Smith is the Team Shepherd who will coordinate the needs and connect FAM families with volunteers serving on the Acts of Service Team. This initiative is in collaboration with the Helping Hands Ministry at CyLife Church. 

Home Maintenance: Volunteers will help with home maintenance projects such as mowing, landscaping, housekeeping, and minor handyman-type work such as painting, carpentry, and fence mending. 

Minor Vehicle Maintenance: Are you handy with changing a windshield wiper blade? Like to wash cars? Change or air up tires? Swap a battery? This team is perfect for you. 

Resource Coordination: Home maintenance items may be needed by FAM families. This volunteer will coordinate with our Resources to pick up and deliver such items. 

Team Shepherd: This position is currently being managed by the Words of Encouragement Shepherd, Linsey Brewster. She will communicate prayers requested by FAM families to volunteers on this team.

Prayers: The only thing you have to do on this team is pray, which can be done from anywhere. This is the perfect team for anyone who wants to serve God but may be homebound or unable to volunteer in any of the other areas due to age, work schedules, or transportation limits. 

Visits: There may be times of crisis where the family would appreciate being prayed over in person, either at home, in a hospital, or after church. This team weaves together with Words of Encouragement Team.
